Drosery Potamia

Cyprus has this kind of derelict beauty, doesn’t it?

Over Easter, we took a couple of days off and headed up to the mountains. One day, we decided to visit Drosery Potamia, a restaurant/mini hotel from the '80s and '90s. Both Vas and I have memories of the place, and I’m sure many of you do too. Public schools used to stop there for lunch during excursions up to Troodos.

It was strange being back.

The place is still nice, the food’s good, but there’s this feeling I can’t quite describe. You find it all over the island, these places from our childhood, still standing, but somehow out of step with the present. They belong to another era. The way they operate hasn’t really adapted, and the people who built them are slowly fading.

And maybe that’s just how it goes. Things need to change. But I keep wondering, are we losing something? I’m not sure. And yes, it still serves kalamaraki. AHAHAHA.

“SIKOSTE SHERI – KALAMARI, BURGER, SOUVLAKI!”

Anyway… long story short, I made a few images.
