ALEX SUNDER

Debut EP Artwork

This was one of those projects where everything just clicked, creativity, friendship, and a healthy dose of madness. Alexis Sunder, a very dear friend and a brilliant musician, asked me to create the artwork for his first solo EP. We wanted something that felt as dynamic and layered as his music, something that wasn’t just a photo but a visual experience.

The idea of using a giant mirror came early on, but we didn’t want digital tricks or post-production magic, we wanted it real. So, we built a custom 3x2 metre acrylic mirror, mounted it on a metal frame, and carried it into the sea. Acrylic was perfect because, beyond being safe, it bends and dents just enough to create unexpected, abstract reflections. We timed everything so that the sunset and moonrise would both play into the frame, giving us a constantly shifting natural light show.

Looking back, this project feels like a blend of music and landscape, a collaboration that pushed me to see how far I could take an idea while keeping it raw and true. A massive thank you to everyone who made this possible, Emma Louise Charalambous, Costas Drakos, Maria Pari, Danielle Neophytou, Stefanos Nicolaides, and Michael Karatzis. And of course, Alexis, for trusting me to bring your vision to life.
