CYPRUS BOULDERING GUIDEBOOK

Documenting the Birth of Cyprus’s Bouldering Legacy

This project began as a commission for Cyprus’s first Bouldering Guidebook, a landmark effort mapping hundreds of climbing lines across the Akamas Peninsula. But it quickly became more than a technical documentation of climbs.

Bouldering offers an alternative way to experience Akamas: one that is slow, physical, and rooted in respect for the landscape. It’s not about conquering nature but about learning from it, the texture of the rock, the shape of each line, the silence between attempts. Through my images, I wanted to highlight this connection and show that outdoor sports can exist in harmony with fragile ecosystems.

These photographs tell a story of both community and place, a group of climbers shaping something new for Cyprus, while reminding us that the wild spaces of Akamas are best enjoyed with care and curiosity.
