What a joy it was to spend time with people so deeply passionate about the land and its produce. I have said for years that the valleys of Pafos are my favourite places in Cyprus, so being able to spend time in the Ezousa Valley with a family that has cultivated this land for four generations felt like a gift.

What I saw at Makarounas was a rare balance between heritage and progress. The knowledge, respect, and traditions of the past remain at the heart of everything they do, while under Theodoros's guidance the winery continues to look forward embracing organic practices, modern technology, and a refreshingly creative, risk-taking spirit. This extends beyond the vineyard itself, finding expression in striking design and visual storytelling, developed in collaboration with the talented Marios Karystios.

It is a privilege to once again work alongside people who are helping shape the future of the island, one plant at a time.
