EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY CYPRUS

Documenting a university alive with authentic stories.

It’s not easy to sum up this collaboration in a few words or in a few images. Since 2019, I’ve been working closely with European University Cyprus, building an ongoing photographic archive that feels very different from the usual staged “university look.”
It all started with a conversation. I remember walking into a room, seeing a table full of people and being shown their existing images, perfectly lit, neatly staged, the kind of thing we’ve all seen a thousand times. I told them that my work is usually outdoors, in real environments, documenting life as it unfolds. The head of Marketing laughed and said: “Exactly. We’re tired of how things have been done. We want images that are authentic.”

That one line shifted everything. Suddenly, this felt like the right fit. After all, EUC isn’t just buildings, it’s a living place where students and faculty create knowledge every single day. Why hide that behind staged perfection?
Our first session lasted an entire month (their previous ones never lasted more than two days). I blended into the campus, joined lectures, ate lunch with students, and simply became part of the community. The results spoke for themselves: images that show the real EUC, proud, authentic, and alive.
That month laid the foundation for what’s now six years of collaboration and counting. Together, we’ve built a visual identity that reflects what EUC really is: a university where every student matters and every moment counts.
